What a Man Really Wants to Say About Relationships | J. Riggins

Excerpt from Chapter 4 – “Taking/Giving Relationship Advice”:

I know what you are thinking. How is he going to have a chapter
on other people giving relationship advice when that is
exactly what he is doing in his book? The truth of the matter is we
all have the power to judge what advice is worthy or not. Some people
may think since I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist I don’t
have any credibility when it comes to relationships. Honestly, everyone
is entitled to his or her opinion, but what makes any self-help
book worthy of being read? Many people read DIY books from
someone who might only have completed one or two projects
related to the book, but they are just good writers. Realistically, just
because you were only in two or three relationships, does that make
you less worthy of writing a self-help book or an advice column? It’s
all about how convincing and sincere the author is at the end of the
day. Taking advice when it comes to relationships can be a gift and
a curse. Advice has a lot of variables, and it may depend on who is
giving you the advice, or how it is perceived.
